Contour Line- a line that suggest the edge of a three-dimensional form.

Outline- This term describes the edge of a two-dimensional object, such as a flat square or a circle. Contrast with "contour".

Rectilinear- Shapes and forms that are characterized by horizontal and vertical lines that suggest stability.

Curvilinear- Shapes and forms that are made of diagonal and curved lines that create a sense of movement or dynamic action.

Expressive Lines- the weight and path of lines can suggest various moods. Bold lines are relatively dark and suggest intensity or emphasis. Fine lines are relatively light and suggest quiet delicacy. Jagged lines can suggest danger, while regular curving lines can suggest gentle movement. Irregular curving lines can suggest aimless movement.

Stippling- the application of dots of a single color to create areas of tone: the closer together the dots, the darker the apparent tone. The further apart the dots, the lighter the tone.
